Went out and caught a showing of The Punisher last weekend. Pretty good flick. I was a bit skeptical at first, considering the Dolph Lundgren version of a few years ago. The movie didn't follow the comic precisely, but IMO it actually made a bit more sense in their version of the "birth" of the Punisher. John Travolta's performance was pretty flat--almost looked like he really didn't want to be there. But otherwise the movie was worth the price of admission. Good fun. And while they made it obvious there are plans for a sequel, it wasn't so blatant & forced as to ruin the ending . . . the ending was a real fini, that left the door open, but didn't scream "insert sequel here" or leave the viewer hanging. Don't listen to the critics--most of them apparently don't have the slightest clue about The Punisher character and give this movie nothing more than "typical action flick" press.

Whoo-hoo!!
Go Rusty!!! Damn that's good to see. After 105 races without a win Rusty Wallace finally scored at Martinsville today. Long overdue. And now, with that monkey off his back, I'm hoping he'll go on to take the championship. Little trivia bit: last year Rusty finished outside the top 10 in the final standings. The last time that happened was 1992. The following year, he came in a close 2nd behind Earnhardt. And with the new bogus points system, a strong year end performance is all he needs to claim the title!

Wow, what a shocker
Well whaddya know. Those pathetic, moronic, know-nothing losers at FOX went ahead and cancelled Wonderfalls. I just don't get it. FOX comes out with these incredible shows, screw up the marketting, then cancel the show when it doesn't get instant top-of-the-chart ratings (for crying out loud, they only gave Wonderfalls like 4 episodes!). I'm wondering how long Tru Calling is going to last. I guess they're too busy trying to make room in the schedule for garbage like Playing it Straight, The Simple Life, My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiance, The Swan, Totally Outrageous Behavior and the winner of the "should have been put out of its (and our) misery 3 sequels ago" American Idol. That's it, I've had enough of their crap. I sincerely hope that someone from FOX wanders accross this 'blog some day, so they can see exactly why they lost this viewer. Better yet, I hope some of their advertisers get the message. Never again will I support their network, never again will I tune in to one of their shows, never again will I purchase their DVDs or other products, and never again will I pay for a movie produced by them, and I encourage all you others out there to do the same.

**Blush**
I got mentioned on Georgy's blog. Guess that means I've hit the big time! Now if I could just convince her to go out with me . . .

Why there?
Ever notice how people tend to congregate in the narrowest part of a "walkway"? Two people can be walking through a completely empty 20 x 20 room, but will stop in the doorway to carry on a conversation. Or you can have a hallway that has a filecabinet/desk/etc. in one spot, reducing it to a single-file width . . . and that is where people will gather to talk. Why? Why do these people pick the absolute most obstructive areas to congregate in? Then, when someone (usually me) has to get past them, they'll move the absolute minimum amount of distance they possibly can. Just barely enough to be noticible, but not nearly enough to get by. And if you ask them to move some more, you'll get a glare like you just told them to jump off a pier. What's so difficult about taking an extra 3 steps (or 3 fewer) before carrying on your pointless conversation in a less restricted part of the hallway/room/area instead of blocking everyone else's path?

Big Brother getting more personal
Okay, I have to admit I'm not really turned on by the practice, but what the hell is this all about?!? I mean, are these folks really so fascist that they intentionally are trying to tell a woman what she can do with her own body, or are they just so incompetent in their attempt at "protecting" women that they didn't realize the full extent of what they were proposing? Cripes, what's next? They going to turn nose rings and tattoos into felonies as well?
The Environmental President
Isn't that how his daddy referred to himself? And Dubya sure is showing a whole lot of compassionate conservatism here, isn't he? I don't know what's really more unbelievable--the fact that the Administration has chosen to ruin a man's life, put hundreds (or thousands) of Americans' health at risk, and reward their cronies for lying & gross negligence, or the fact that corrupt sleazeballs like this are actually running our country!
